The Waste2Fuels project Kicks-Off at IRIS offices in Castelldefels, Spain

On January 27th and 28th 2016, the 20 partners of the Waste2Fuels project gathered at IRIS’s offices to officially start the project. During 2 days, the various experts and companies participating in the project discussed on the main topics of the project such as metabolic engineering, biobutanol production and agrofood waste valorisation.

The project, funded under the LCE-11-2015 call of the H2020 programme will develop, over the next 3 years, novel methods of uptaking agrofood waste for biobutanol production, a biofuel with many benefits compared to other existing fuels such as bioethanol or biodiesel. Moreover, the project will aim for closing the production loop and extracting high added value compounds from the process residues.
