IMPORTANCE OF PRETREATMENT ON BUTANOL PRODUCTION FROM AWFs

TOWARDS BIO-BUTANOL AS FUEL: BIOREFINERY, PROCESSES AND TECHNOLOGIES

The aim of the workshop is to offer a discussion table to researchers involved in bio-butanol production and utilization. Several key issues of the route for the successful industrial production of bio-butanol will be on the table: feedstock selection, pretreatment and hydrolysis processes, fermentation technologies, catalytic ethanol-to-butanol conversion, solvent recovery technologies and the use as fuels.

Although the bio-butanol production is on the verge of the demonstration stage, several of the cited issues are still bottlenecks for the commercialisation route. Current solutions and challenging solutions will be presented and discussed.

Stimulations for further developments and international cooperation on the cited issues are also among the aim of the workshop.
